Club Rules

Welcome to the 2026 Golf season.  The following is important information for our weekend tournaments and Club Championship competitions.  Our official tournament season will be held from Saturday, April 4, 2026 through Saturday, November 21, 2026.

Weekend Tournament Format and Prizes:

For our Stableford tournaments, prizes will be awarded to 1st, 2nd & 3rd place scores, and Low Gross.

For our Low Net tournaments, prizes will be awarded for First, Second and Third place Low Net, and best Back Nine.

Additional prizes will be awarded for Closest to Pins on all four Par 3s (holes 3, 7, 10, 12).

Tournament Rules:

Entry Fee is $10 for all Emerald Golf Society Weekend Tournaments.

All Emerald Members maintaining a current Handicap with the Emerald are eligible to participate in the weekend tournaments. Guests are always welcome to participate, but are only eligible for the Closest to the Pin Prizes.

All members are responsible for knowing and complying with the rules of the Golf, including any local rules that may apply at the time of the tournament.

The Official (default) tees for Emerald tournaments are the Blue/White COMBO tees; players choosing to play from other tees may do so using the course handicap for the tee being played.  The implementation of the World Handicap System (WHS) effective January 1, 2020, has eliminated the need for a secondary adjustment (formerly rule 3-5 ).  The new Course handicaps for each tee already reflects the necessary adjusments for participants playing from different tees.

  • Red (#1) Men’s tees = Men’s course handicap for Red tees,
  • Gold (#2) tees = course handicap for Gold tees,
  • White (#3) tees = course handicap for White tees,
  • Combo Tees = course handicap for Combo tees,
  • Black (#5) tees = course handicap for Black tees,

Tournament Tee Selection

To ensure accuracy of tournament scoring and to avoid unnecessary confusion, each member must select the tee they intend to play during the Emerald Tournament season and communicate their choice to the Tournament Chair.  It is expected that the member will play from that tee for all tournaments during the season.  If for some reason, a member wishes to change their “play from” tee for a tournament, they must inform the Tournament Chair prior to the tournament.

Pace of Play:

All members are expected to continue to focus on improving our pace of play; we expect a round of golf to take less than 4.5 hours.  Please keep up with the group ahead of you; don’t worry about the group behind you.  If you are out of position, pick up your pace when asked and move up a hole if instructed to do so.

Scorecards:

All tournament scorecards must be legible, include player’s first initial and Last Name, 2 member signatures (one card only), and the date played.  The tee that each player played from must be written on the scorecard. The scorecard must be handed in to the Proshop and submitted on the same day of play.  No exceptions.

Appeals:

Disagreements or issues relating to tournament play (e.g. winning scores, disqualifications, handicap adjustments, etc.) should be brought to the attention of the appropriate Committee Chairperson (e.g. Tournament, Handicap, etc.) for resolution.

Emerald Golf Society Competition Committee Members:

  • Tournaments: Tim Dunnigan Chair).
  • Handicaps: Eddie Donohue (Chair).
  • Appeals: Kevin Rogers.
